A classic event sponsored by Tierra de Sabor and co-sponsored by Tarsus y Cuatro Rayas Winery now in its 30th edition. The competition aims to disseminate the sommelier culture and select the best professional who becomes the "Best Sommelier of Spain" and represents Spain in the ASI (Association de la Somellerie Internationale) World Sommelier Championship. It is structured in two parts: during the semifinal which will take place on Wednesday 9 April, from 13:30 to 19:00h the contestants face a written exam, with either multiple choice or short answer questions and a written wine tasting. The Final takes place next day at the same stage, where contestants face several tasks: a quick test, an oral wine tasting, an incorrect wine list, identification of spirits, liqueurs and other beverages and finally decanting and serving a bottle of wine. Everything under the eyes of a jury formed by high level wine professionals.
Bodega Tarsus is located in the Ribera del Duero, with 70 hectares of its own vineyards where it grows tinta del país and cabernet sauvignon varieties.
Bodega Cuatro Rayas is synonymous with quality Verdejo DO Rueda, not only for its wines, but also in the broadest sense, that of quality of life. The wines of this cooperative take care of the rural environment and the people who live in it, in a balance between profitability, value and sustainability. Its micro-vinifications by parcels show the versatility of the Verdejo grape.
