This saltworks are more than 100 years old, they were built at the end of the XIX century, around 1889, in full saline boom of the southwest coast.
Its typology responds to the ancient clay saline model and is one of the few salt flats of Gran Canaria that preserves intact its classical construction of yesteryear, its primitive walls, centenary staves of storage, crystallization and vaporization of salt, its channeling of its clean waters from the sea.
Since the end of the 19th century, the Salinas Bocacangrejo have been exploited with more or less production, having its peak in the 50s and declining at the beginning of this century. After repairing and conditioning the partially inactive facilities for many years, we once again produce our coarse salt and fleur de sel, with the same quality as always, to be sold in the local and international market.
Sal Marina Virgen, Flor de Sal, Escamas Naturales de sal o Sal Marina Húmeda are 100% natural products, without industrial processes or chemical additions.
The salt production process is artisanal: evaporation of seawater by action of the sun and the Canarian wind.
The harvest and packaging is manual.
Ecological, sustainable and of the highest quality.
