The family wine business Barbanera Srl. was founded in 1938, in one of the most beautiful corners of Italy: on the slopes of Monte Cetona, in the heart of the green hills and vineyards of the Tuscan district known as the Valdichiana. Today, Barbanera stands for a dynamic, modern operation concerned mainly with export to Europe and beyond. Initially focusing purely on wines from Tuscany, growing demand in recent years for wines from other Italian Regions such as Puglia and Sicily, has led to a broadening of the range of wines offered - as well as a constant process of updating the winery's technology.As a result and as a complement Barbanera's own lines, such as Duca di Saragnano and Barbanera itself, wines and their packaging can now be tailor-made to suit customer's needs. As part of the process of targeting new markets and new trade sectors, the company has also achieved certification in the principal organizational quality control regimes: ISO, IFS and BRC.In addition, the wines regularly win medals and prizes at the highest level in international competitions. The latest and most prestigious result was the crowning of the 2011 vintage of Toscana Rosso "Vecciano" as Luca Maroni's "Best Red Wine of Italy" in his guide "Annuario dei Migliori Vini Italiani 2014" (The 2014 yearbook of the best Italian wines).
UMBRIA:
SIGNAE rises in the middle of a wide area of 50 hectares, on the crossing of five roads which, during the Romans, connected Rome with Spoleto, Perugia, Rimini and Todi. Signae does not use chemicals or herbicides and manually select grapes and clusters. The result is a selection of fine red wines. The strength of the winery is communication out of traditional scheme. It focuses on young people: it gives a stage to young emerging artists in the “Osterie del Rossobastardo” (Rossobastardo’s Tavern) or its presence during important international festivals such as “Festival dei Due Mondi” in Spoleto, Narni Black Festival, “Estate Romana” in Rome, “Biennale” in Venice, La MaMa Moves Dance Festival in New York…
LAZIO:
L’azienda agricola Castel De Paolis nasce nel 1985 a Grottaferrata, a 270 mt sul livello del mare godendo di un clima tra i piu’ miti e piacevoli d’Italia. Nasce da una idea divenuta progetto dell’ On. Giulio Santarelli, gia’ sottosegretario di stato al Ministero dell’Agricoltura e Foreste, che ha coinvolto in prima persona il prof. Attilio Scienza dell’università di Milano. Assieme hanno curato in ogni suo dettaglio tutta la fase di ricerca e sperimentazione protrattosi dal 1985 al 1992, riguardante il recupero delle varietà dei vitigni autoctoni pregiati, abbandonati alla fine del secolo scorso con l’arrivo della filossera, ma anche della scelta di varietà innovative di altre regioni italiane e di origine francese. Un’attenzione particolare poi è stata posta sulla scelta del numero dei ceppi per ettaro, portati a 5500, con un carico produttivo ridotto a kg 1-1,5 per ceppo, e l’introduzione della pratica del diradamento per i rossi, l’abolizione di qualsiasi forma di concimazione, l’applicazione del regolamento CEE 2078/92 di conversione biologica. L’azienda sorge sulle rovine del Castello di epoca medievale, dal quale prende il nome, che a sua volta sorgeva su rovine di epoca Romana. Ancora oggi infatti, la Cantina dell’azienda può godere della preziosa “Cisterna Romana”, nella quale riposano le Barrique con i grandi rossi da invecchiamento. Il territorio del comune di Grottaferrata, unitamente a quelli di Monte Porzio Catone e Frascati, costituiscono la DOC Frascati. Vini da sempre al vertice delle più importanti guide italiane ed internazionali, dai potenti e profumati Frascati DOC e DOCG all’elegante “Donna Adriana”, il pluripremiato “I Quattro Mori”, ma anche il grandissimo “Muffa Nobile”, uno dei più importanti vini da Botrytis Cinerea d’Italia, così come il celebre e rinomato Frascati Cannellino.
