"In 1974, after a long time of research, at Ascaso Pastry we introduced a great novelty among our creations: the Russian Cake. Since then, this sweet has become one of our most relevant products. It is the result of trips through the south of France , given the neighborhood and the social and cultural exchanges. Vicente Ascaso then decided to get an original Russian Cake: his, the one from Huesca. And he created his own masterful recipe. Legends are told about its origin, as other creations tend to have. The books endorse the personal recipe and a touch or 'secret' gives our Russian Cake an exclusive identity". - Ascaso Family.

Ascaso Russian Cake is the most well-known and demanded creation of our pastry shop. We have been making it since 1974. Its particular characteristics mean that, although it does not contain preservatives, it keeps well over time, which allows it to "travel" a lot, and that is also part of the "secret" of its success. It is kept in a normal refrigerator and it is recommended to take it temperate (about 18º or 20º), although it admits more fluctuations according to taste. Stored between 0 and 6 degrees it has an expiration of two months. Suitable for coeliacs.

It has the "C" C'Alial for Food Quality awarded by the Government of Aragon, as well as our marzipan chestnuts.

It is fluffy, creamy and exquisite. It has an intense almond and hazelnut flavor and is made with a careful selection of raw materials. This is the essence of Ascaso's Russian cake, the jewel of this family business that was born in Huesca 130 years ago.

Pastelería Ascaso was born 130 years ago in Huesca and, since then, our commitment to innovation and research into new formulas based on traditional recipes have made us a solid benchmark for the sweetest gastronomy in Spain.

Today, with the fourth family generation in charge, our production is carried out in a 1,680-square-meter workshop located in the Huesca Logistics Platform (PLHUS), which has the most important advances in the sector to optimize the artisan production that characterizes to our creations.

The quality of raw materials, mixed naturally in our artisan pastry, is our most valuable asset. The Russian Cake is our most notorious creation, a sweet pastry whose original recipe remains a secret of the Ascaso bakery.
