</iframe<p>The aim of this competition is to reward the best Mexican taco recipe in which Canary Island avocado with Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) is the main ingredient and star of the show, promoting <strong>creativity, technique, flavour</strong> and <strong>speed of execution.</strong></p> <p>The competition will feature six participants, pre-selected by the organisers, who must be active professional chefs. In addition to avocado, you may use other ingredients of your choice, provided that they respect the essence of the Mexican taco and are suitable for consumption. The winner will receive a prize of €1,500 and the runner-up will receive €1,000. For its part, the Canary Islands Avocado PGI will present all finalists with a selection of local products, as well as a certificate of participation.</p> <p>Prior to the championship, there will be a series of presentations organized by the <strong>Aguacate de Canarias PGI</strong> and the ICCA. The program is as follows:<br /> <br /> <strong>10:00–10:30:</strong><strong>Canarias avocado PGI</strong>. The importance and value of its registration. <br /> The presentation will address the challenges involved in obtaining European registration for this product, as well as the benefits and advantages this registration brings to Canarian producers and consumers in general.<br /> Speaker: <strong>Canary Islands Institute of Agri-Food Quality.</strong></p> <p><strong>10:30–11:00:</strong> <strong>Distinctive qualities of the Canary Islands Avocado PGI. Historical introduction. Adaptation to the Canary Islands environment. Varieties covered by the PGI: Characteristics.</strong><br /> Speaker:<strong> Canary Islands Avocado PGI Management Body.</strong></p> <p><strong></strong><br /> A tasting to the public will be held during the presentation on the varieties (characteristics).<br /> <br /> </p> <p>This will be followed by the draw to determine the order of participation, and then the championship will begin.
