José Ramón Urtasun and Jesús Mendoza will be in charge of conducting this vertical tasting of Trasnocho, a wine from Bodegas Remírez de Ganuza that is produced in limited quantities. This is the first time this vertical tasting has been held, and it will be difficult to repeat given the scarcity of older bottles.

Trasnocho is one of Remírez de Ganuza's most unique wines. Its first vintage was in 2001 and since then it has been produced every year, maintaining a very distinct identity based on both the origin of the grapes and a unique production system.

It is made mainly from Tempranillo, accompanied by Graciano and a small proportion of Viura and Malvasía skins. The grapes come from vineyards with an average age of 60 years, located in different towns in the Sierra Cantabria: Labastida, San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Ávalos, Samaniego, Leza, Elciego, Navaridas, Laguardia and Elvillar.

One of the keys to Trasnocho is its water balloon extraction system, developed and patented by the winery itself. This method allows the skins to be gently pressed after fermentation, favouring a delicate and precise extraction that respects the texture and balance of the wine.

Ageing lasts for around 20 months, mainly in new French oak barrels, where the wine gains structure, depth and ageing potential.

Production is limited, with around 7,000 bottles per year depending on the vintage, reinforcing the exclusive character of a wine that reflects both the personality of the old vineyards of Sierra Cantabria and the technical approach of the winery.

The tasting will feature seven Trasnocho wines from the following vintages: 2001, 2005, 2010, 2012, 2016, 2019 and 2021.

Admission to this tasting is by invitation only.
