Matosinhos City Council, a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, has been presented itself to the world through the Salón Gourmets as a leading gastronomic destination. With around 500 restaurants, the city stands out for the excellence of its fresh fish, the expertise of its canning industry and a hub of haute cuisine that brings together, just a few minutes’ walk apart, restaurants distinguished with Michelin stars and Repsol Suns.

Matosinhos showed this culinary essence through a show cooking session led by five ambassador chefs: Rui Paula (Casa de Chá da Boa Nova), Arnaldo Azecedo (Bistrô – Matosinhos Municipal Market), David Jesus (Seiva), Hugo Portela (Cibû) and Nuno Castro (Fava Tonka).

They all took center stage in five culinary highlights, creating five tapas inspired by the region, featuring Atlantic seafood, market-fresh fish, produce from the Atlantic coast, local preserves and a creative dessert that has celebrated the sweetness of the Atlantic. This cooking demonstration aimed, not only to delight the palate, but also to reinforce gastronomy as a true cultural, economic and tourist pillar of the municipality.
