Contest Rules
This competition, sponsored by the Sabor a Málaga quality seal, seeks the most traditional and most creative recipe for this iconic dish from Malaga cuisine.
The six contestants must prepare six identical dishes in 30 minutes. They are free to choose their own ingredients, but all dishes must have broth and mayonnaise as their main base. This year, as a new feature, there will be two categories of gazpachuelo: Traditional Gazpachuelo and Creative Gazpachuelo, as the aim is to showcase the versatility of this dish as a symbol of Malaga cuisine in its different versions. There will be three participants in each category, who will have previously indicated the category in which they are competing.
Once finished, each participant must present their dish, explaining the preparation process, the inspiration behind the recipe, and the techniques used. The expert jury will score not only the explanation of the dish, but also aspects such as the texture of the mayonnaise, fidelity to the traditional recipe, the ingredients used, and the aroma and flavor, in the case of Traditional Gazpachuelo. In the case of Creative Gazpachuelo, the jury will evaluate innovative techniques and originality, the use of local ingredients, and, of course, aroma and flavor. There will be a prize of €1,500 for the Best Traditional Gazpachuelo Recipe and a prize of €1,500 for the Best Creative Gazpachuelo Recipe. The other finalists will receive a certificate for their participation.
