The history of our winery is closely intertwined with that of our wine region, where the devastating invasion of phylloxera left the vineyard in ruins.

In response to this crisis, a powerful social momentum was unleashed, leading producers to come together and collaborate to rebuild this valuable heritage. It was in this context that Sanger came to light in 1952.

Our brand emerged under the leadership of sixteen winemakers, all classmates from the same school. These men, our “Founding Fathers”, who lived through the ravages of World War II, quickly understood the importance of pooling their experiences to collaborate and thrive together. Thus, they created the independent wine cooperative within their school, leaving behind a valuable tool for production and marketing that enables the transmission of their knowledge in the world of Champagne.
