Contest Rules
On Tuesday 8th April, the Plató Gourmets stage in hall 7 hosted this championship sponsored by the Sabor a Málaga quality seal, which is looking for the most creative recipe for this iconic dish of Malaga cuisine.
The 6 contestants had 30 minutes to prepare 6 identical dishes, with a free choice of ingredients, but all the preparations had to use stock and mayonnaise as the main base. Once finished, each participant presented their dish, explaining the preparation process, the inspiration behind the recipe and the techniques used. In addition to the explanation of the dish, the jury of experts scored aspects such as the texture of the mayonnaise, the creativity, the ingredients used, the aroma and the flavour. It was a prize of 2,000 euros for the winner, 1,000 euros for the second prize and 500 euros for the third prize..
Sabor a Málaga celebrates its tenth anniversary at the Salon Gourmets in Madrid and on this occasion, the promotional brand of the Diputación de Málaga have the largest exhibition space of the whole decade. A total of 265 square metres house more than thirty local producers, more than 500 references and an extensive programme of activities, including workshops, tastings, samplings, product presentations and live cooking by renowned chefs, who will showcase the richness and high quality standards of the provincial pantry.
