Jury 2025
Nearly 900 samples, 60 judges, two qualifying rounds, 20 categories, 60 finalists and 1 winner were the ingredients of the most prestigious cheese championship in Spain.
One more edition of GourmetQuesos returned to choose the best national cheeses by evaluating aspects such as rind, colour, texture, smell, taste, aftertaste and persistence of each of the samples.
Cheese from Spain Awards is the category promoted by ICEX, España Exportación e Inversiones, which aims to support Spanish cheese makers with exporting capacity (to participate in this category, you must first register on the Salon Gourmets website and then in the following link on the ICEX website).
New this year, the international jury was able to award up to 10 Gold prizes, plus a special Champion Gold prize to the cheese chosen by absolute majority.
The championship consisted of two phases:
Semi-final: On 19 and 20 March, the 100 finalist cheeses were chosen (5 per category).
Final: At the Salón Gourmets, the winners of the 20 categories were chosen. The top finishers in each were examined by 20 judges who chose the ‘Best Cheese of Spain’.
