Marqués de Velilla was established in 1985 by the Segovian family Hernández de Mercado and is today among the most respected wineries in the Ribera del Duero appellation.
Situated towards the top of the estate’s hill, the winery displays an original architectural style, a mix of old Castilian and colonial, which blends in perfectly with the surrounding landscape. Rising up through the vines, pine trees, holm oaks and junipers of the estate is the majestic old Doncel de Mataperras, a centuries-old pine tree that has come through centuries of history and is now the symbol of our winery.
The objective of Marqués de Velilla Winery is to produce wines with a soul and personality. High-quality wines, fruit of the land and the labour of the men that work it. To do this we have 150 hectares of our own vineyards and a winery equipped with the latest technology which enables us to apply appropriate techniques at each stage of the process. Our aim is to combine the savoir-faire we have inherited from traditional practices with the efficiency of our modern wine-making tools.
