Dry wine D.O. Sierras de Málaga, made of Muscat of Alexandria, aged in barrels

Botani was the first dry Moscatel made inSpain in modern times, resurrecting the tradition of Málaga's historic "Mountain Wines." As anevolution of this project, Botani Nobleza was launched in 2021 as a single vineyard dry Moscatelfermented in barrel like the traditional dry Moscatel produced in Málaga before the phylloxera.Aged on the lees for six months before bottling. The lees are stirred twiceper week during aging.
Bodegas Jorge Ordóñez Málaga was founded in 2004 with the aim of rescuing centuries of Málaga's winemaking tradition, destroyed by the phylloxera outbreak in the 19th century. The Muscat of Alexandria grape was brought to Málaga by Phoenician traders 3,000 years ago. The vineyards, planted between 1902 and 1974, are the most extreme and dangerous in Europe, with slopes of up to 70%. Pruning and harvesting are done manually, and the grapes are transported by mules up the steep slopes. The winery produces the first and best dry Muscat of Alexandria, Botani, reviving the tradition of non-fortified wines in Málaga. Our sweet wine series, from 1 to 4, are among the best in the world. In 2012, Nº2 Victoria became the first Spanish wine served at a Nobel Prize dinner.
