Los Amantes is inspired by the love story of the Aztec goddess Mayahuel and Quetzalcóatl. After Mayahuel's death in the arms of her beloved, her remains were buried, and the agave was watered with the tears of Quetzalcóatl, giving life to the first agave plant.
