A past full of future
In the Roman Vergentum, an area rich in the cultivation of vines and olive trees since the time of the Empire, José de Góngora y Arando settled in 1682. He acquired the Hacienda de San Rafael and founded the winery with the privilege of entering wines into the port of Seville, then Puerto de Indias. Thus was born the second oldest winery in Spain, the twelfth in the world, embedded in the commercial and financial development of Seville.
Our Spindle and Quintal Press
Even today, after almost five hundred years, since the date of launch of the wine press is even before the founding of the winery, this jewel is still in operation, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, as a testimony of the artisanal tradition. that the family has always wanted to maintain and make its hallmark. Fifteen tons of Flanders pine, felled on the last full moon before the winter solstice, have been making the grapes since time immemorial while still sweating blood in the form of resin.
