Our unoaked wine is the expression of the fruitiness of the Mencia grape. Vineyards of 35 years located at 650 m. altitude in Villafranca del Bierzo and Valtuille de Arriba, in clayey andmineral soils. Manual harvest and manual sorting at the winery. Low temperature prefermentation and stainless steel fermentation.
Fresh, lively, balanced and with fleshy tannins. Is a very easy-to-drink wine full of red fruit.
Bodega del Abad is not only the name of a winery, it is a way of claiming the history, the present and the future of El Bierzo region linked to vine growing. More than two decades ago, the winery began its journey planting the vines of mencia and godello, varieties used to make our wines.
The winery is located in the heart of land known as olla berciana, in the village of Carracedelo, a wine-growing area located in the northwest of the IberianPeninsula. Our monovarietal wines are made with the red mencia and white godello, indigenous varietys of this region traditionally linked to viticulture, all of them under Bierzo appellation.
Wines that are born with essence and character, wines that reflect the land they come from, a natural paradise with a unique terroir composed by slate, clay and pebbles that allows mineratlity and personality to show into the mencia and godello grapes.
