The mussel is a bivalve mollusk, typical of the Atlantic, which lives attached to shallow rocks in intertidal areas. The mussel is grown in troughs, which are floating platforms from which ropes hang submerged in the water and to which the mussels adhere. The Arousa Estuary in Galicia is the world's leading producer of this mollusk.
Frinsa's mussels are extracted from the troughs located at the entrance of the estuaries, where they have the best nourishment. After their classification and cleaning, they are boiled and dehydrated to avoid the deterioration of the sauce and, thus, guarantee a bite with a unique texture and flavor. The canning and packaging is done manually, adding a soft and characteristic pickled sauce, made from traditional recipes, which respects and enhances the flavor of the mussel.
