The Royal variety is the native varietal of the province of Jaén whose cultivation in the area dates back centuries. Its cultivation has suffered a drastic recession since the end of the 19th century and is on the verge of extinction. Castillo de Canena has recovered it and planted it on the family estate.

The cultivation of the Royal variety, which is native to the Sierra de Cazorla and from which this oil is produced, was practically abandoned due to the difficulty of harvesting it. At Castillo de Canena, we have recovered this variety in our commitment to biodiversity and new gastronomic experiences, launching for the first time in history an Royal Temprano, that is to say, an oil made with olives of the Royal variety harvested at the beginning of the harvest. A harmonious oil, very delicate and elegant, with an almost imperceptible bitterness and a slightly more intense spiciness at the end.
It is an exclusive product presented in a black glass bottle and screen-printed in white. A groundbreaking and elegant design for an ancient varietal with original tasting notes: fresh grass, artichoke and green banana and, secondly, tropical fruits such as pineapple and kiwi. The bitterness and spiciness are smooth and in perfect harmony. Balanced and fresh.
