Asturian ice cider made with at minimum 20 apples. Exclusive, fresh and elegant drink.

The Valverán cider mill is a pioneer in the production of ice-ciders in Spain. Valverán 20 manzanas has a clearly defined personality and is full of nuances and uniquely fruity. It is fresh, sensual, surprising and exclusive, given that only 18,349 bottles have been made this year.

VARIETALS Valverán 20 Manzanas ice cider was made with the following native Asturian apples, from our own estate where the mill is situated: “Raxao”, “Durona de Tresali”, “Verdialona”, “Collaos” and “Fuentes”.

PRODUCTION The process of producing the cider is slow and requires time and patience, two years pass from harvest time until the cider goes on sale. The apples are hand harvested and washed before examination on the selection table. The apples are then chopped and pressed and the obtained must is decanted into stainless steel tanks using a cold application technique. After clarification, the must is frozen, recreating in the cider house the effects of natural frosts, and concentrating the apple’s sugar. After the slow process of separating the ice from the must, the obtained essence ferments at a temperature of 10 ºC for 10 months and then stays in stainless steel tanks on lees for a further 8 months. Each bottle of this elixir contains the concentrated and fermented must of 20 apples.

The Masaveu family first invested in the wine sector in 1974, when they purchased Bodegas Murua, however the family’s first vineyards date back to the middle of the 19th century, precisely in Castellar del Vallés where the family originally comes from and where Federico Masaveu Rivell began a journey to be continued one century later by his descendants. Since then, Masaveu Bodegas has grown to become a benchmark in the sector, due to the quality of their winemaking in different DO´s and their sustainable philosophy and utmost respect for the land, in their estate owned vineyards, thanks to which they transmit the unique personality of each terroir in each and every bottle. This is the common denominator in each and every project initiated by Bodegas Masaveu in different parts and regions of the country: Murua (DOCa Rioja), Fillaboa (DO Rias Baixas), Pagos de Araiz (DO Navarra), Leda (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León) and Valverán (Asturias).
