The OPP-71 starts the campaign We know our sea and our fishing

The Organization of Fishermen Producers of Almería (OPP-71) has launched the campaign We know our sea and our fishing. The objective of this campaign is to bring the marine world closer to the little ones, through game dynamics and training activities. More than twenty educational centers participate in We know our sea and our fishing. The sessions are oriented towards the first year of Primary Education. The majority of recipients, therefore, will be small and small from Almeria between 5 and 6 years old. The training activities in this workshop are accompanied by informative material in the form of posters, which divides the focus into three fundamental points. These are the three focuses of interest on which the OPP71 usually works: The biodiversity of the coasts and seas in which the Almeria fleet operates: it delves into those that are the star products of the industry, such as the red shrimp The different fishing techniques practiced in Almería, the types of nets and boats, and the species associated with each of them The importance of fish in the diet and the impact of regular consumption of oily fish on health   The OPP71: outreach, protection and collaboration The Fish Producers Organization is the organization behind the Del Barco a la Mesa online fish market. It is an organization that not only ensures the preservation of the fishing way of life, but also seeks (and makes real efforts) to turn the industry towards a sustainable model. In addition to providing legal, labor, naval material, packaging for boats and buyers, and infrastructure, the OPP71 finances and sponsors education, research and innovation projects aimed at the rehabilitation of oceans and seas. The objective must be set in the long term. That is why it is so important not only to make new generations aware of the importance of fishing as a cultural and economic activity, but also that, through the transmission of specialized knowledge, the OPP71 also teaches that there is no future in fishing if there are no fish in the sea.
DEL BARCO A LA MESA-FROM THE BOAT TO THE TABLE is the online store of the Lonja de Almeria, by the Organization of Fisheries Producers of Almeria. An initiative that stands as a short marketing channel so that consumers of fresh fish and seafood can access their purchase directly with the fishing sector, shortening the times, and benefiting from more competitive prices between producer and consumer. A pioneering initiative that has already been in business for 11 years. Orders are made online or by phone (and whatsapp) until 4:00 p.m., then the product is purchased on the auction of the fish market and it is prepared for delivery. In less than 24 hours these products pass from when they are in the sea to homes anywhere on the Iberian Peninsula. We take care of our raw material with great care and with sustainable packaging.
