MAKING:
A rosé wine from Tierra de Castilla y Leon with grapes sourced from various sites in the Valladolid region and then made with a blend of Tempranillo and Grenache with a scarce local white variety. Harvest was in September when the ripeness balance of the three varieties was perfect. The grapes were de-stemmed and crushed and a controlled light maceration period followed. After pressing, the must was fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 20ºC. Pluma Rosé has not been treated by clarification to ensure all the potential flavours on the palate, aromas and spirit of the area are maintained. The wine was cold stabilized quickly eliminating tartaric salts to avoid any sediments reaching the consumer.
TASTING SHEET:
- Strawberry red with strong pink and violet highlights giving the wine blue tinge.
- A solid nose with mineral aromas intertwined with notes of fruit (strawberry) and flowers (violets).
- Mineral on the palate, pleasant mouth-filling and creamy with a long finish and a complexity due to the limestone soil.
Recommended served chilled: between 8 and 11º C.
PAIRINGS:
Gastronomically, this wine is very versatile for pairing; it is complemented very well with Italian pasta, rice, fish and, why not, with some good chops from Castilla as our grandparents did. Before lunch, at mid-afternoon, at home, with friends in bars, at any time you feel like it.
BODEGAS EL INICIO is a small winery yet is brimming with technology and the knowledge necessary to elaborate and age great wines.
The winery it is situated in Ribera del Duero, under the imposing presence of Peñafiel Castle, a Medieval fort.
Created with one clear goal: to elaborate high quality wines, wines destined for barrel aging , wines without hurry, elegant and full of flavor.
Wines which in their days gave their name to the Denomination of Origin, which our Director and associate Angel Luis Margüello helped to develop with care and personality back in the 80´s and 90´s .These types of wines, which under his experience, have been the true icons of the area and which are now enjoying a comeback. The wine´s potency falls back to make way for elegance, roughness turns to smoothness, elegant tannins form from aggressive tannins and peace evolves from chaos.
Our winery is set in the Ribera del Duero but we have also been making wine for many years in other areas such as Castilla y León, Rías Baixas and Rueda (here with our 23 hectares of vineyard).
