A classic event sponsored by Tierra de Sabor and co-sponsored by Bodegas Protos now in its 29th edition. The competition aims to disseminate the sommelier culture and select the best professional who becomes the "Best Sommelier of Spain" and represents Spain in the ASI (Association de la Somellerie Internationale) World Sommelier Championship. It is structured in two parts: during the semifinal the contestants face a written exam, with either multiple choice or short answer questions and a written wine tasting. The Final takes place next day at the same stage, where contestants face several tasks: a quick test, an oral wine tasting, an incorrect wine list, identification of spirits, liqueurs and other beverages and finally decanting and serving a bottle of wine. Everything under the eyes of a jury formed by high level wine professionals.
