Salón Gourmets has been a driving force and an exceptional witness to the impressive boom that Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO) is experiencing around the world, supporting producers in their race towards excellence in a sector that is constantly innovating and professionalising.
There is therefore a clear need to publicise the great Extra Virgin Olive Oils that are currently being produced in different corners of the world, the immense variety of colours, flavours and textures they offer and the infinite versatility of this product. What better way than by organising this worldwide competition?
The best extra virgin olive oils in the world will meet at the Salón Gourmets to celebrate the 1st Salón Gourmets World Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition. The aim of the competition is to find the most outstanding oils of the 2021/2022 campaign.
The jury, made up of international professionals from the sector, will award 7 prizes, taking into account their typology, organoleptic characteristics and design:
EVOO Quality Award Salón Gourmets:
Intense green fruity
Medium green fruity
Ripe fruity
EVOO Ecological Quality Award Salón Gourmets.
EVOO PDO and PGI Quality Award Salón Gourmets.
High polyphenol content Award EVOO Salón Gourmets.
Packaging and Innovation Award EVOO Salón Gourmets.
During the last week of March, tasting sessions will be held by the Official Tasting Panel of the Community of Madrid to then select the EVOOs that will be part of the final that will take place on Tuesday, April 26 (Packaging and Innovation Award) and Wednesday, April 27 at the 35 Salón Gourmets. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 28 April from 12:00 to 13:00 h. in the Gourmets Auditorium.
