Since the I Taller de los Sentidos in the year 2000 the purpose has always been that non-professional could known the traceability of the food that was shown at differents workshops at Salon Gourmets.The Children's workshops, were developed with such objetive aimed at schoolchildren between 8 and 12 years old from the Community of Madrid. Children learn about the product in a closer way, seeing, touching and smelling as well as learning the basic principles of a healthy diet and of course, tasting their work, the funniest part of the workshop.
This year children will discover the ingredients needed to make homemade bread in the "Bread Workshop" / Horneo Fresh, they will learn about the properties of tuna thanks to Balfegó Tuna Tour, and honey under the Regulatory Council Protected Geographical Indication Honey of Galicia. Beatriz Ríos Cebreiros, a technician from the Regulatory Board, and Mª Esther Ordóñez Dios, president, will bring this didactic and interactive experience of approaching the world of bees and Galician Honey to the youngest members of the family as future consumers. The children will learn about the process of obtaining honey and the materials used by beekeepers. They will taste two samples of honey, where the three steps of a tasting will be explained to them and they will be able to see that not all honeys are the same.
Two basic ingredients of the Mediterranean diet could not be missing, cheese, in a workshop in which children will learn to taste with the 5 senses and Olive Oil thanks to the Interprofesional del Aceite de Oliva Español that offers its product to educate children in a healthier and more sustainable diet. This is the ambitious goal set by Aceites de Oliva de España and Compass Group-Scolarest, children will learn tricks to prepare healthy and delicious snacks, with extra virgin olive oil as the main protagonist.
With the aim of emphasising daily physical activity and the importance of a healthy lifestyle, participants will take a tour of the nutritional pyramid, where they will discover the foods that make it up, how often they should be consumed and the health benefits it brings.
