Rosado de Lágrima: tempranillo, garnacha y albillo 2019

VINEYARDS AND HARVEST

Different plots of vines of Tempranillo sorted for Nabal Rosé (85%) were planted between 80s and 00s and the the plantation system is Cordon Royat with north-south orientation. The nature of soils are deep, calcareous clay and their yields are controlled at no more than 5000 Kg / ha. Separately Garnacha and Albillo Mayor (15%) were harvested from old vines, where they were planted together with many other varieties near to the winery, holding very low yields and high-quality. This harvest started on September 27th 2019.

VINIFICATION

Nabal Rosé is made of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Albillo Mayor varieties and each variety was harvested by hand separately and transported in 15-kg-boxes to Bodegas Nabal. Once in the winery, must and skins undergo a minimum cold maceration at no more than two hours in order to extract some colour and release some aroma precursors. Alcoholic fermentation took place in steel tanks at low temperatures of 11ºC, achieving an accurate aromatic expression. The procedures of clarification, stabilization and filtering of the wine before its bottling were done in the most respectful way, to preserve its character to the maximum.

Bodegas Nabal is a recently created winery, joining together experience and know-know of a family of great wine tradition, whose roots come from a nearby wine region. Located in Gumiel de Izán, Bodegas Nabal is based in a region of unique vines, due to its altitude, the soils quality and the age of vines.

With a range of mainly red wines, Óscar Navarro (Winemaker and Technical Director) works the Tempranillo variety as a fair reflection of the soils where it grows: bushed low-yields-vines grow in small plots, are harvested by hand and located between forests in Eastern areas of Ribera del Duero. Together with Daniel Navarro, Commercial Director, and their siblings, they are developing not only a wine tourism project in Bodegas Nabal, but also a brand itself among national and international markets, being ambassadors of their wine tradition and love for nature.
