Fariña family is well acknowledged as the founding fathers of D.O. Toro. Their commitment to quality, pioneering efforts, respect for the terroir and the unparalleled knowledge and belief in the regions varietal, Tinta de Toro, are the fundamental pillars of their oenological philosophy. Founded by Salvador Fariña in 1942 in Casaseca de las Chanas, 30 km. away from Toro, Fariña, is one of the most important wineries on the Spanish wine scene. Manuel Fariña joins the family business in the late sixties after getting his oenology degree. In 1987 he is one of the promoters of D.O. Toro and its first president. His full confidence in the region potential and the main variety, Tinta de Toro, takes him to drive a series of changes that meant a real revolution in the area. Nowadays, the third generation continues de family tradition, contributing with their vision and continuing with the innovative spirit of the family.
