In order to recognize the work of professionals in the Spanish wine sector, users of the Gourmet Wine Guide, The Best of Spain, have been put in charge of choosing what they consider to be the best representatives of the sector, be they wines, institutions, wineries or people.

From the Gourmets Fair, we try to reward excellence, the trajectory and the innovative ideas that revolutionize the sector. In these awards, the Gourmet Wine Guide team acts exclusively as a receiver of votes and as guarantor of their delivery, since it is just readers who decide the outcome of the elections through the magazine or the mobile application. The winners of the 34th Gourmets 2019 Wine Guide Awards are:

Winery of the year: Dominio do Bibei, for its aged and local wines.

Best young white: Protos Verdejo from Protos DO Rueda wineries.

Best vintage white: Louro do Bolo from Rafael Palacios DO Valdeorras winery.

Best rosé: Tombú de Domain Dostares VT of Castilla y León.

Best young red: Care Oak from Care DO Cariñena wineries.

Best vintage red: Pago de los Capellanes Parcela El Picón, Pago de los

Capellanes winery DO Ribera del Duero.

Best sparkling wine (ex-aequo): Gramona III Lustros, Gramona cava DO Cava.

Best sparkling (ex-aequo): Torelló brut nature gran reserva, cavas Torelló DO Cava.

Best full-bodied wine: Alvear Pedro Ximénez 1927, Alvear DO Montilla-Moriles wineries.

Best specialized store: La Despensa de Montal in Zaragoza.

Special prize: Juan Carlos Sancha, for the search and protection of autochthonous varieties and development of organic wines.
