Olivar de Segura was founded in 1989, as a cooperative company that has brought together more than 4.500 families of small farmers. The production of Olivar de Segura is organized through its 12 mills, and it is the main economic pillar for the rural region where it operates. This working model promotes joint solidarity among its members and motivates professionalism among all its members.
The Segura Mountain Range > A Natural Paradise
Based on this cooperative working model, the mission of Olivar de Segura is to bring value to an authentic and unique productive system, integrated in the Sierra de Segura Natural Park (Jaén province), the largest protected natural area in Spain. This region has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO and is also an area under a special protection for birds, which is why it is now a part of the Natura 2000 network.
High Mountain Range > A Distinguished Quality
Our olive grove represents a "system of high ecological value", and is a symbol of sustainable development linked to the authentic and unique "mountain olive grove", allowing for a balance between the production of high quality olive oil and the preservation of Spain’s natural heritage. The natural conditions of this territory —with an average altitude of 900 meters— together with our traditional cultivation system allow us to produce a fruity and aromatic oil, that is rich in oleic acid and polyphenols, and is a source of provitamin A and vitamin E. It also has the stability provided by its origin in the Picual olive, which is known to maintain its organoleptic and sensory properties for a longer period of time than other varieties. The Regulatory Council of the Designation of Origin Sierra de Segura, through its regulatory classification system and the sensory analysis it requires, ensures the origin and high quality of extra virgin olive oils that carry its label —recognized in Spain and Europe.
Ecological Oil > Envisioning the future
In 1986, a small group of farmers from the municipality of Génave —a region within the Natural Park of the Sierra de Segura—, began a new way of life that made them the pioneers of organic farming in Spain. Since then, more farmers have joined with a clear goal: to care for consumer health, while respecting the environment. This has made Olivar de Segura an example in the world of organic extra virgin olive oil.

As a leading company in the production and marketing of virgin olive oil, Olivar de Segura is committed to innovation as a driving force for development. It takes part in numerous R + D + I projects and is up to date with the latest technology in its oil mills and packaging plants.
Traceability and Certification
Trust Olivar de Segura has its own laboratory where it realizes all physicochemical analysis. It also carries out all controls established in its quality manual, ensuring the traceability of the oil, as well as the compliance with the strictest food safety requirements. In addition to the recognition by the Denomination of Origin Sierra de Segura, Olivar de Segura has received the European Union certification for organic production, and the IFS and BRC certification for food safety. It also received the quality certification ISO 9001 and environmental ISO 14001. The company invests every year in order to carry out its activities with the smallest possible environmental impact and the optimal use of the natural resources.
