15th International Cooking Contest with EVOO "Jaén, Paraíso Interior”
The Council of Jaén has chosen one more year the Salón de Gourmets as the venue for the 15th International Kitchen Prize with extra virgin olive oil (AOVE) "Jaén Paraíso Interior".
The main objective of this award is the promotion of the extra virgin olive oil of the Province of Jaén, rewarding the creativity of the national and international cooks. It is a competition with a long history, which has contestants from different countries, renowned chefs such as Massimo Bottura, Jordi Cruz and Xanty Elías, among others (full list winners).
In the 2018 edition, the contest will take place on Wednesday, May 9 at the Gourmets Auditorium in IFEMA Pavilion 8.
The winner will receive 8,000 euros and a trophy, while the second and third place will receive 3,000 euros and 1,000 euros, respectively, and two finalist plates, becoming one of the kitchen championships with the highest economic endowment in Spain, 12,000 euros in total.
The 8 extra virgin olive oils distinguished with the quality seal Jaén Selección 2018 are: Castillo de Canena ; Claramunt, de Baeza; Maquiz, de Mengíbar; Nobleza del Sur, de Castellar; Oro de Cánava, de Jimena; Picualia, de Bailén; Puerta de las Villas, de Mogón, and in the category of organic production oil has been awarded Melgarejo Ecológico Premium, de Pegalajar.
The contest rules are available as well as the registration form which will be open until April 2th and must be sent by mail in an envelope to the Provincial Council of Jaén (it is specified in the bases).
